Almost no sedans on this list - all pickups and crossover SUVs like the RAV4. 10 years ago, you'd see more representation from the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Chevy Impala, etc.

The best selling vehicle in 35 states are from American car companies. In another 10 years, you'll probably see more cheap Chinese EV's on this list.

Interesting note - Tesla's popular Model Y takes the pole in California. I guess technically that's a crossover.

In the south, it is nearly always going to be a truck and certain makes and models sell overwhelmingly.

In states with mega cities, you will probably see a lot of different little gas efficient shitboxes instead of everyone buying 1-2 particular types.

General rule:
- Blue states love the RAV4 or Tesla
- Red states love trucks

crv's and rav4's might be the most economical and functional cars in our country.

72 month notes and the fact that anything below about $30k is effectively a soapbox derby car have something to do with that.

Best selling vehicle by State

How did they get a total of 51 when there are only 50 states?

Not really. While pretty vanilla and uninspiring, they're good utilitarian cars.

Lots of companies need company vehicles that aren’t for blue collar work.

Makes sense.

Trucks are great for working and doing stuff.
RAV4 and Tesla are great for driving to climate protests and for driving their wifes boyfriend around.

The NY Metro region has a ton of CRV's and Rav4's. They aren't too big for heavy traffic and narrow streets, but they carry a good bit with decent mileage. Extremely reliable.

Well to be honest, trucks aren't really trucks anymore..
Just large $61K yuppie guppie carriers with a bed.

Most trucks aren't even used "as trucks". Just a status symbol these days.
