Where do you all plan on retiring and living out the last best years of your lives?

Northern Georgia round abouts Dillard. Nice quiet cabin off the grid as possible.

Apparently most of the country believes it's SWFL, based on the aging population. Oh, and The Villages, NE of here. Highest STD rate of retirees in the nation.

I used to think Florida, maybe Siesta Key.. but it’s too effing hot now, and too much crazy ish happens in Florida.

Now I’m thinking some medium sized town on the East Coast, maybe Hilton Head or Asheville, or even further inland so you can easily drive to the coast, but not be as hot most of the year.. i’ve even considered Nashville due to the mild climate, but can drive to beaches on FL panhandle or Carolinas in less than a full day’s drive.. also less than a day to drive to Saints/LSU home games.

I’m only in my 40s but hopeful of retiring somewhat early in my 50s.

I'm not interested in moving once retired.

Go on vacations, yes. But not moving permenantly.

But, if I had to move I'd move to possibly where my kids end up or possibly Florida (northern Florida)

St Augustine Beach, Florida. I’ve already put my plan into action. I purchased a small home and paid it off when I retired from my first career. I’m currently doing a second career waiting for the wife to be free to relocate.

The plan is to live there and to RV travel North America a few months every year. Will do some International traveling by cruises as well.

Ive thought about this as well, but the reality is that, outside of developing places like Cambodia, the US dollar doesnt go as far as you might think.. Places like Malaysia and Thailand and Costa Rica will allow you to stretch your dollar further, but still takes a considerable amount to fully retire there.

Do it before it's too late.

I've considered Bonita Springs. What's your opinion on that since you live there?
