Gotta agree. I do like Rouses a lot but H-E-B prices were better by my recollection.

Very much a regional store in SW Virginia, North Carolina, East Tennessee, and maybe South Carolina, Food City has great stores.
They had one in Knoxville that just wasn't up to their standards, I think it was closed after a year and a half trial.
Food City puts stores out in the burbs where people drive to buy groceries. Just because they're the only game in town DOESN'T mean their prices are ridiculous, their prices are competitive, their store brands very acceptable, and their store managers will work to get in products that the neighbors want. They even have butchers working in their stores.
For us, Food City for the win.

We got this shite called Little Giant that seems to hit the spot pretty effectively for day-to-day food.

Frick Rouses. Worst and most expensive meat selection around. I pass 3 Rouses to go either Winn Dixie or Albertsons on Highland

The only thing I can say about Rouses is at least they are not Oakpoint.

I like Rouses compared to the overpriced rude local versions and the sleaze of WalMart. Wish we had HEB also.

Meijer
I’ve been to a couple in Michigan, I’d rank them up there with HEB and Publix.
