or secondswing.com

and for balls bc you will probably loose a lot you can buy them gently used or this is a good price for some new ones. they arent very good but for beginners they will do: LINK

you need max game improvement clubs no reason in buying blades even if you can get them cheap. once you start playing and hitting it consistently then move down to musclebacks. Even for someone who plays golf every weekend and is a 5-10 handicapper would be challenged with blades

I didn't read through the thread, and I'm sure somebody suggested this, but buy a set of used name brand clubs. They will be reasonably priced, and they will be a lot better than a brand new set of cheap beginner clubs.

I've been golfing for 15 years. I've had Taylormade and Calloway clubs for a long time. I tried these out and bought a set because I liked them so much. The company is gigagolf and they make look a like clubs. But in all honesty they play just as good as the $1500 sets. I've been hitting them for about three years now and love them. I'd highly recommend the txr hybrid iron set and woods. They are forgiving and play well for the price. You can buy a complete bag of clubs with good grips and shafts for a few hundred bucks.

As far as price, I was told I can expense $800. Thinking that should be fine for clubs, bag and shoes.

I'd look to see what I could get in clubs (Irons and a driver) and a bag for $800. Buy the shoes on your own dime.

Nice. Spend that $800 on irons, driver, and a bag

You can get decent golf shoes at some of those cheap golf sites for as low as $25

When I was in law school I got a pair of Adidas golf shoes from rock bottom golf for $25 and wore them for 2 years

I know you will get tired of hearing this, but you need to find a place you can hit a few different types. I bought a lightly used set from a guy who had about 5 different sets I thought I might be interest in. He had another set he suggested I try - Wilson Staff. As soon as I hit them I was sold.

Better advice would be to spend more and have them fitted if you are serious about getting better.
