Kind of like a current soldiers fighting for our "freedom" in the Middle East, right? Dumbass rednecks manipulated by politicians.

See how that works?

Most people that join the military just do what they're told to. They're fighting for country and freedom and other ideals.

It's called a discussion. I'm sorry that all discussions for you involve a ton of emotion and logic never plays a part. I enjoy discussing these things for the sake of conversation. I gave my opinion. What's yours? Do you have anything interesting to add?

And you are that guy who enters a discussion about great American presidents on Presidents Day and immediately begins to trumpet about how much better the country would have been if the south succeeded...well done douche

Again, if you're so hell-bent on ending slavery, if that's such an important topic to you, surely you support entering dozens of Wars right now all across the globe, right?

So this is the day when all the polifricks find an excuse to infiltrate the rest of the website.

They're polluting the movie/tv board too.

Reading be hard.

quote:

Lincoln? Seriously? Lincoln was a fricking tyrant. Like a jaded wife that won't grant a divorce out of spite and so she can bottom out your bank account in perpetuity.

Rest of the list is really solid

That's a simple statement about the veracity of him on such lists.

Someone else brought up slavery, just as I expected based on that above comment. I would have left it alone otherwise.

My follow-up post right after that was lamenting the state of affairs between the federal government and the states and how his actions hurt that relationship.

I was taking a stance on the right to end a relationship. Not on whether it was a good idea or not in that specific instance. By making a statement that states don't have a right to secede youre setting a precedent. A dangerous one as far as I'm concerned.

That's not what he said at all. The poster is actually trying to have an intelligent discussion about whether or not Lincoln was a good president. Several other posters, have devolved into, "you just want the slavery again, der racisms!!!!" That line of thought is quite simplistic and idiotic. You can simultaneously hold the belief that Lincoln overreached his presidential authority many times throughout his presidency, and simultaneously wonder if slavery would have continued without the civil war. That would be an intelligent conversation to have.

But the mouth breathers too afraid to think critically just scream "RACIST!!!" with some sense of pride in their internet name calling. These are also the same posters that probably insult long dead confederate soldiers in hopes of getting a rise out of someone. More than likely, these are millennials who were not taught anything of the civil war because today's public schools don't dare approach subjects that might offend someone.

Which discussion do you want to have? The intelligent one, or the stupid one?

Let's shift gears shall we and stop talking about policy and whatever the rest of you low foreheaded, truck nutted, overtime working plant fricks think you know about American history. And lets talk about which one of these frickers might've been into pegging and golden showers or whatever else.

I'm saying Trump is into golden showers. Clinton was into pegging (my personal favorite). Washington fricked with his shirt on. Bush senior had a diaper fetish, Bush junior did coke out of coed's assholes and Mister BBC himself was into trashy blondes with bad dye jobs.

That's really difficult to do when the poster in question writes that Hitler took out a full-page ad on the dangers of sailing aboard the Lusitania.

What if the current president has been elected by less than 40% of the popular vote and wasn’t even on the ballot in over 30% of the states?

What if the current president shut down all news media opposed to his agenda and jailed the publishers and editors? What if he signed an arrest warrant for the Chief Justice of the United States?

What if he arrested the majority of a state’s legislators because there was a chance they oppose him?

What if he deported his most vocal critic in Congress?

What if he declared martial law and suspended habeas corpus so that any person could be arrested without being charged and held indefinitely?

What if he violated the 2nd Amendment by disarming the states of his choosing?

What if, after one month of office and without congressional approval, he released the full might of the military on any state that refused to pay federal taxes?

What if he initiated these actions against the better judgement of the entirety of his cabinet and military?

What if the military, while carrying out his orders, killed thousands of civilians, burned down homes, destroyed property, torched entire cities; while robbing and raping their civilians?

What if he created new states out of existing states all in the name of political expediency?

What if he was so wildly unpopular that just months before the election it was believed he would not have been elected to a second term?

What if he placed armed guards at voting places to insure people voted the right way?

What if, after the president’s death that the government told us this was all for the good of the people to help ensure it was free and equal?

What if because of all his gross violations of the United States Constitution, we build him a massive monument in DC and called him our greatest president of all time?

I mean his first post accused Lincoln of being a tyrant, but sure he's trying to have an intelligent discussion. Most of his arguments are specious, at best, and rely heavily on the benefit of hindsight. Did Lincoln abuse the power of his office? Absolutely. He has the company of virtually every single other president there. Was he in a very precarious situation of trying to keep the country together, a situation not of his doing? Absolutely.

And the reality is you can't have any discussion of the Civil War without bringing slavery into it. Maintaining slavery was the sole reason the Southern states seceded.

But no, I'm a big racist and I want slavery to exist.

Some people are so typical and predictable. They have no philosophical consistency, they have childish opinions and they just want to fit in. I usually just ignore them. Sometimes I like to troll them if I need a few yuks.

I appreciate your direction but I mean, it's President's Day and he posted a best presidents list. I can't think of anything more political than posting a list of who the best presidents are. If there was any topic that should be moved to PT...

And I corrected the mistake but go ahead and ignore everything else I said and focus on that one thing because I know you're perfect and never make mistakes. That's usually the go to move for someone who has nothing to say.

No, he's correct. I was in the flow of things and I said Hitler instead of Germany. I don't think that's an uncommon substitution.
