The past couple of times I've been we've gone to Marble Colorado. Some great trails and hiking, just hard to get there, you really need a 4x4 for the whole experience. There's a few miles long road that will take you to Crystal and the Crystal Mill.

This. Ouray and Durango are two of my favorite Colorado towns. If you are going this time of year and aren't a skier I would do this area of Colorado. Also rafting through the Royal Gorge is pretty awesome as well.

Windcliff Estates at Estes Park for the win!
Windcliff
I've recommended this place to many people and they all came back saying it was the greatest mountain vacation they ever had.

Thankfully you're going at one of the cheapest times of the year.

Rent a Jeep, not a car, plenty of off road trails that are a blast to check out.

Reserve a Jeep rental in Silverton BEFORE you arrive. They sell out quickly.
