I go to the strip once in a blue moon, really only when friends are in town.
My place here is little bigger, in better area and I pay roughly the same amount as I did when I was living back in Baton Rouge.Cost of living here is pretty good. But like I said its about a $70-$90 round trip cab ride to strip if I want to go , I live pretty far out. So I hardly ever go.
Lots of cool cheap places to drink in local areas, alot of the local casinos have great deals for locals as well.
Speaking of that, if you have a car and want a pretty nice, chill laid back pool party check out The M.

Probably relax at Nugget Friday & hit Ron White show that night. I was looking for some local perspective on shite to do that's Vegas but isn't the tourist trap. Once again thanks.

If you're downtown and want a cool, non douchebaggy club type place check out the Gold Spike. Beer pong, corn hole, 4 square and a lot of other bar games. Couches and daybeds to relax on...

Yeah, I think there are a bunch of mid-range places like Planet Hollywood and Monte Carlo that are solid without all of the excessive Cosmopolitan douchebaggery. Unless you're going to frick all weekend, the room doesn't even matter that much.

i disagree, getting a bad arse suite is half the fun of going to vegas. the suites at the flamingo's have little couch sitting areas.

1 ceasars 2 bellagio 3 wynn/encore (but not near anything) 4 mgm in that order. I'm basing it off size, entertainment, location, and overall quality

I've stayed at the Wynn, Palazzo, Monte Carlo and Caesar's and prefer them in that order. The Wynn (and Encore) are 
Palazzo is an all suites resort, Monte Carlo is nice for a cheaper stay and Caesar's was old and disappointing.

We just got back from the belaggio. Nice, but after visiting all of the casinos I'd stay at the Aria or Cosmopolitan. They're just newer, sexier properties. That said, watching the Belaggio fountains from our room was awesome.

I've been there well over a dozen times over the years, and went back a couple months ago after a long break. We stayed at the Cosmo (had the Japanese soaking tub or whatever and a balcony overlooking the Bellagio fountains). It was easily my favorite room in Vegas. Very nice hotel with a much different feel than most on the strip. If you can stretch it to a wraparound suite, do it. I regret not getting one. Was going to try the $100 trick at check-in (otherwise known as the $20 trick), but the hotel was fully booked weeks before we got there.

The Nugget is a good choice. Vic and Anthony's in the Nugget is about the best steakhouse in town IMHO.
To the OP--you might as well try the Wynn.
