It really depends on what your looking for. My family and I settled in Madisonville because it checked all of our boxes:

1. Close (but not too close) to family.
2. Good schools.
3. Low crime.
4. Nice, affordable homes in peaceful neighborhoods.
5. All amenities needed within a 10 mile radius.

Only thing that sucks right now is the traffic.

I always thought Thibodaux was a good central location. About an hour to the coast/GI, hour to Nola, and an hour to BR

Nope! Thibodaux is a terrible option. Located inconveniently to everything. Stay away. We, I mean they definitely don’t want tour kind there.

If you can afford it, Uptown New Orleans. If you can’t, I guess the north shore or something? New Orleans proper or bust for me.

Houston. It's like an hour flight from New Orleans.

Oh I absolutely do not. Silly company that is paying me far more than I’m worth stipulates I’m within an hour. Young family, ball and chain is a teacher, and 4 year old baw!

That is literally on the application for buying a house in Mandeville.

Covington/Mandeville seems like the given here. Our office got moved to Covington about a year ago, and the traffic SUCKS.

So true. That said, I hear the mayor of Covington is a really cool dude.
