most Super Bowl halftime shows are crap regardless how good the person/group is normally. Except Prince, he fricking killed it.
They've been damn good the past 5-6 years or so, IMO.

I can't believe that people even acknowledge that bull shite as music
Instead of playing and instrument and composing a song with a melody and lyrics, now it is the norm to hit play on a prerecorded track and jump around waving your hands in menacing gestures and imploring everyone to put your hands in the air. We have come so far as a society it brings a tear to my eye. Even the emoticon has some musical talent compared to that trash >>

Prince, Bruno, and who brought out Missy Elliot? Those were all pretty good.
Just not a fan of anything Gaga.

Kendrick is a legit rapper and great lyricist. None of those guys are going to sound too good outside of a studio produced album, so a poor choice for an event like last night in my opinion. He probably made more money for that performance than most on this board will see in a lifetime

Gaga played it safe and turned out much better than I was fearing.
The girl can flat out sing. Her gaudiness tends to overshadow that.

Can't believe that people actually turned out for that trash. Not a good statement regarding some members of the human species.
I watched a few seconds of it and left to go pick up dinner.
I really prefer letting the bands do a half time show.

Which is probably more of a statement about the horrid state of pop culture and the taste of the average American

Everyone knew she could sing well before her SB performance....

Bruno Mars put on a hell of a show, for a pop guy. He's extremely talented

quote:Not really a poor choice. I'm fairly certain they sold out a cold/rainy Olympic Park. The fact is that SOME of the people who watch CFB don't know who Kendrick Lamar is and even if they did. They'll find someway to bitch & moan about it being on their television set.

I get it. It's popular to shite on the halftime shows. Maybe I'm just easily entertained, but I've enjoyed most of them, especially recent ones.

Well, Its probably because pop artists the use are geared for 14-20 year old girls. I don't think it's an accident, it's an attempt to attract a different demographic.

I mean most people know her as the female who has weird music videos like "Pokerface". But very few people know that she has an album/documentary with Tony Bennett. She's got range.

It really ticks me off when it comes to music. I don't get how people pigeonhole themselves into one genre or another.

I don't mind pop artists like so many here do.

Really? Are you including RHCP spazzing on stage not even remotely playing the song? The only one that was decent was Bruno Mars, but the fake performances are junk.
