The best is any institution where you qualify for in state tuition, grants or scholarships AND offers a good, marketable degree in your chosen career path. Everything else is just a circle jerk among effete academics and corrupt ranking organizations.

Yeah I agree that’s mostly a degree mill - if you pay your tuition or are a minority student, it’s an automatic degree (at all levels not just baccalaureate)

UCLA

Actually ranked NO 1 by USNews, and located in one of the nicest sections of the second largest metro area in the country.

UCLA has won 129 National Championship, second only to Stanford, including a title in all three major sports, and of course the greatest collegiate dynasty ever in basketball.

Famous alumni include Jim Morrison, James Dean, Carol Burnett, Francis Ford Coppola, Ben Shapiro, Jackie Robinson, to name a very few..

My brother went to law school at UVA specializing in patent law. Beautiful campus.

He makes bank and works from home 4 days a week.

Any school that provides the curriculum for one’s chosen profession. It’s the interest of the student in his major that counts. A bright student can succeed at almost any American public university.

Purdue, a top 10 engineering school, 17 astronauts are graduates, including first and last to walk on the moo. Scully that landed 737 in Hudson River earned MS there. Ranks highly in all other programs . Campus academic facilities are world class, football ranks far below academics in terms of money spent and alumni donations as it should be.

“Best” is an obsolete word. To people who keep track of such things, it means the most prestigious, which boils down to being the most selective. The quality of the education you receive is not better than you would get at hundreds of other schools.

In the new world order, college admissions committees hold the power of deciding who gets the privilege of graduating from the “best” schools. It’s social engineering. It no longer has much to do with how hard you work or what you know.

People like to joke about UNO, but it’s no walk in the park. They’ll kick your arse to the curb.

I didn’t go there, but know many who did.
