I’m bought a 17 3/4 Chevy it’s duramax. I pull around 9500lbs several times a month. Truck is Lt has electronic upgrade but cloth. It’s surprisingly a smooth comfortable truck for a 3/4. I had only driven tundras for past 15 years. I put 200k on the tundras in 5 years then traded in for around 12-15k in equity.
However I have a recall that they say will take a couple days. Just curious if the Chevy was the right choice.
In my opinion it rode better that the ram or ford so that is what sold me.
I’m asking for knowledgeable truck buyers feed back not people who will give their ignorant opinions but never owned a truck much less a 3/4 ton diesel.
Thanks

Chevy's are the longest lasting, most dependable trucks on the market. If you are wanting to pass it down to your children, you made the right choice.

I've had great service from GMC Duramax, UNTIL this latest one.

2016, and the hi pressure fuel pump scattered at 25k on the clock. Dealer had to remove front cap and cab to replace all the fuel lines, rails, and other misc. shite. When I picked it up, the invoice was 4 pages long of just parts......

Now have 40k on the clock, and so far, so good.

And it pulls like a freight train.

I'm on my 3rd F-250 and every one has done what I've needed to do

Interior and exterior design is the reason I picked it over the other brands

Have 175k plus miles on my 2006 Chevy 2500 with the Duramax. Changed front hubs and done routine maintenance. I've pulled a lot of weight with it regularly over the years. After 150k or so it seemed like it had more power. Must have finally really broke it in.

I'm sorry but the GMC 2500HD is way better looking than the current F250

If you want a reliable, low maintenance rig, buy a gas powered Chevrolet with the old school 6.0L V8. The Duramax Diesel and Allison transmission is great setup, but it's also an expensive option and complete overkill for most buyers. The 6.0L V8 doesn't tow as much and burns a lot of fuel, but it is extremely reliable and used extensively in everything from stripped chassis trucks to marine applications.

Ford diesels have sucked since they ditched the 7.3. They are the fanciest with the most chrome if you want to show off. Otherwise they are costly to keep running. If you want a Ford, buy the gas engine. The base 2wd model gas F250 is a solid work truck at a good price. A lot of municipalities get these stripped down gas models for a heavy discount. If you don't mind the lower trim level, this could be a decent option.

Ram has a good Diesel. They've improved their truck a lot. Better choice than the Ford IMO. The Cummins is the basis of its appeal.

I think the Sierra looks the best.

I’ve had and have them all and all are good. I am driving a 17 F250 that replaced a 2011 Chevy Duramax 2500 with 230k miles. I just moved it into the fleet and it is still going. I have two Dodge 5500 with the Cummins think they are 2012 and 2015 and they are absolute beasts.

Only one I ever had trouble with was an 06 F250 with the 6.0 but I had two of them and problems only one one.

All three majors are making very good 3/4 ton and up diesel trucks.

The Ford 6.0 is by far and away the worst Diesel engine ever made.

It was a bad one but only had trouble with one out of three. But it was the one I was driving so it pissed me off. Once I hit 100k miles and the warranty was out I dumped it

I drive a 2014 F-150 now, but my previous truck was a 2004 3/4 Sierra. My truck now has never given me any issues, but the ride/comfort in my old truck was superior.

Be happy they are doing a recall. Most companies won’t address failures on their part.
