re: Best hotels in the French quarter

Rooms have been massive the times I've stayed at Roosevelt (living room, bedroom, foyer, kitchenette), but like most hotels in New Orleans, rooms vary in size and it's a crapshoot unless you pay for the bigger one or are of a status to get upgraded.
Rooms at Monteleone were smaller than my closet in my experience. The bed was the width of the room -- you had to scoot down to the bottom of the bed to get off of it. But I am sure plenty rooms there aren't that size.
Oddly enough, the best hotel room itself I've ever had in NOLA (besides Le Pav, which is always large) was Residence Inn in the CBD. Got it for $50 doing blind booking and was expecting something like a Holiday Inn Express.. boy was I wrong. Kitchen, living area, bed room, and the bathroom was massive.

You need the Lucifer Suite at The Saint.

Have you been to The Saint? I'm curious about it. It looks beautiful from the lobby/outside, and I know it is owned by Ritz next door (I think?).

It's no Ritz, but it has a nice run-down European feel to it.

No, but I ran across that suite when I was looking for a hotel last time we went down to NOLA. It seems pretty nice and just a bit quirky. You should stay there and post a full review.

We crash with family 50% of the time.

must have got an upgrade because I've stayed there probably 20 nights and have never had more than a couple feet on either side of the bed and no tub/just shower
I haven't been to Le Pav since my friend's wedding reception was there 12 years ago, it's just too far away from what I do while there

Maison Orleans is the nicest and includes booze.

Maison Orleans is hands down nicer than Windsor

Doubt the Ritz has closed its club level. They may have finally just taken away its name. The Ritz in NOLA is pretty crappy by Ritz standards but Maison Orleans was always way above bar. Completely separate entrance is why I guess it had a different name.

Boss's brother at my previous job owns Ritz in NOLA (not sure how ownership works for a brand like that?). They do their family holidays and kids' birthdays and whanot in that big penthouse at the top.
Fin: Agree. I tend to cover a lot of ground when we go out in NOLA, and I am not a huge lover of the Quarter, so Le Pav is never a problem. But if someone doesn't plan to leave it and hates cabbing/walking more than necessary, it wouldn't be convenient.

I've had 2 subpar experiences at the Ritz so there's no reason for me to stay there on any level.

I wouldn't even say its the same hotel by any stretch. The club level has different everything. Completely separate staff, entrance, valet. Rooms are on another level and you get small meals and booze on the house.
Unless they have redone the rooms recently the rooms at the Ritz in New Orleans don't feel much different than an Hampton Inn.

The club level at the Ritz never had a completely separate entrance. The Ritz is nice, the club level is very nice. Similar to the club level at all Ritz Carltons. They stopped calling it the Maison Orleans a few years ago. Never had a problem at the Ritz and find it comparable to others.

It isn't a full, exclusive entrance for the Club Level, but there is an entrance on the Iberville side of the Ritz building that is near the elevators that take you to the Club entrance. As opposed to entering through the Canal Street, or Ritz garage, entrance and switching elevators twice.
