I've stayed there - very safe to walk to and very nice. Cheaper than most of the known hotels too. However, the best is still the Monteleone, but you pay for it too.

Monteleone, I've always been a fan.

I love the Prince Conti. Like the Maison Dupuy, very close to the action, but quiet. Nice bar, and priced right.

Ritz Carlton or The Roosevelt (Waldorf Astoria).

Certainly not the best, but I stayed at the Hyatt French Quarter last year and it was very solid.

Good choice.
They also have a new place call The Saint that looks very nice.
I don't think the Roosevelt is worth the money at all.

The Roosevelt, Monteleone, Royal Sonesta are all nice. I also stated at the Hotel St Marie on Toulouse, it was really great to for a small place. Definitely worth the nightly rate for a hotel that's not "mainstream"

It's nice during Christmas but the lobby is so crowded it gets to be a pain. That and the rooms are tiny

I know, I was there two nights last weekend. Looked like two wedding receptions each night and thousands walking in from the streets.
I had an upgrade room so the room size was better than last time I stayed, but the bathroom was tiny.
The only really bad thing is the noise, especially if on a lower level. The windows have to be original and the let in all the noise from the streets.
Not a bad place and I loved the free drinks I recieved, but if I wouldn't have used points, that room was $507 a night.

It's not in the French Quarter but my wife and I prefer Windsor Court over anything else in New Orleans

The re-model was needed and it is now the best of the big hotels. The Soniat House is the nicest of the boutique hotels.

Monteleone has always been a personal fave. Carousel Bar in the lobby is awesome

I can drink a Sazerac there without feeling too gay.

You should be drinking on the Marigny side of the 1/4, so most of these recs are horrible.

A friend and I were just having this conversation yesterday.
I like the Ritz and Hotel Mazarin but I hear Windsor Court is nice with big rooms and shower.
Have fun :)

I do, but the hotels on that side are for shite. Uber is your friend.

We stay at the French Quarter Guest Houses on Ursulines, Inn on Ursulines is the name, but that company has other good properties. Le Richelieu is in a great location as well.

Not a fan. Other than the free onsite parking.
