Time to upgrade the home security system. Looking to add cameras etc. Have looked at Vivint and also simply safe but want to get the OT's opinion on quality, price, and service of various systems. What ya got?

I'm a pretty big fan of simply safe. It's installed for free by the homeowner, configurable, monitoring is extremely cost effective. It just works.

I'm using SimpliSafe. Inexpensive and easy to set up. You can also easily add things like extra sensors, smoke alarms, etc. I don't think they're doing cameras yet, but not sure.

What ever you do, do not use ADT. We have had nothing but problems with them since they came out 2 weeks ago.

For the motion sensors that are placed on doors and windows, how "secure" is the 3M backing or whatever is used to secure it?

I read about some people having issues with the sensors not sticking to windows using the included products, so I used some of the Gorilla mounting tape for all of them. I used the clear stuff. No issues so far.

Just wait until you try to cancel. Huge hassle, and I'll never use them again because of it.

I have had several and used Elite Solutions at my camp. They are a dealer for alarm.com.

Go to alarm.com and click "find a dealer" then enter your zip. Their equipment and app are fantastic. I have the thermostat, 2 cameras, main door lock, and a couple of lights wired up. All can be controlled with your phone.

Also, they use the same monitoring company all the other guys use.

I have been really impressed with Cox. Really cheap if you already have cable/internet with them. No phone/cellphone required.
