It's still a sketchy area right now, but it's starting to take off, but right off Jennings and Magnolia could have something your looking for.

Have you looked at Ridglea or Ridglea Hills?

Ridglea

My parents lived just west of there for years (down Camp Bowie next to 820). The area around the old theater is nice; some great mid-century modern homes on the north side of Camp Bowie...

The Clearfork development will add value to the area.

Fort Worth itself is weird in that there isn't any one area with a bunch of nice houses (near Colonial and TCU is probably the biggest/most consistent?), there are small pockets of very nice houses scattered throughout the city. Because of this the public schools aren't great anywhere in town

Very true.

If you're working In FtW, then Frisco and The Colony will not really work for you unless you work odd hours and just love to drive. It all depends on where you will be working. I live in Collin County and even though the drive to Lewisville isn't bad right now... when Toyota, Liberty Mutual, and whatever else in the hell they're building in Legacy West - I'll have to head in earlier to work. or helicopter in because I am on the OT

Unless you are living in Fort Worth or certain parts of Dallas, why are you sending your kid to private school in DFW?

This!! Lots of my Navy buddies who moved here from other places initially bought in the more "affordable" areas and put their kids in private school. After being here a few years they realized what a good deal the public schools are and how silly it is to pay private school tuition in addition to property tax that supports the school district. If you are committed to private school for some reason, OK, but most of the locations mentioned in the thread have great schools that you're going to be paying for anyway.

This man speaks the truth

If you're working in Fort Worth I'd stick to Tarrant or Denton county. Draw a line straight through DFW airport and stay to the west of that.

We lived in Mansfield for 4 years. It has really grown. The housing is affordable and the schools are great.

Tanglewood is out of your price range. Try Ridglea Hills.

We just bought in colleyville, in one of the older neighborhoods. We are a little odd neighborhood. A bunch of 70s era homes on acre or more lots with multimillion dollar homes surrounding our neighborhood. I look out my back door and I am looking at a 2.5mm hole right now. We bought our home and lot for 380k. We absolutely love it.
