I'll be bookmarking this thread, we are relocating to DFW to work out of our Lewisville office

We could possibly be moving to Ft. Worth. After preliminary research, I couldn't find any homes from the $225-325k range with any character. Should I just resign myself to the fact that I will be buying a builder quality, cookie-cutter home, or are there some good family neighborhoods with some character?
2 adults, 2 kids (9 and 4) looking for 1800-3000(ish) sqft with at least three bedrooms and a decent yard for three small dogs.
And if you find something you really like, make a strong offer immediately, likely over the asking price. That's what it takes these days in most areas around DFW.

My home shot up in value over the last three years from $360k to almost $550k. The DFW area is hot right now.

The Roanoke area still has some decent prices. I suggest looking there. It's near Texas Motor Speedway and Cabela's.

Or go the other direction from Lewisville and look into Trophy Club. Northwest ISD has some great schools and facilities.
You almost can't go wrong with the northern suburbs stretching from Ft Worth to Dallas. I mean people who know the area wouldn't have issues living in...Keller, trophy club, southlake, flower mound, colleyville, grapevine, lewisville, the colony, frisco, McKinney, Plano, Allen...lots of options.
My house is worth almost $40k more than we paid for it not quite 3 years ago. And that's a cookie cutter subdivision type house just outside the loop in Fort Worth. We are selling soon and expect to have the house on the market for a week at the most. One of my colleagues sold his house last year and was under contract the day before the listing was put on the market. Move quick if you see something you like around here.

The high school that I went to was in White Settlement, we changed campuses whenever I was in high school.
The name speaks to the racial make-up; however, when I went to school it was the white trash, redneck type.

Frisco and McKinney are about the furthest things from Ft Worth than any suburb. If you want to be close to FTW, this isn't the answer.

Lived in the keller area for about 6 weeks, and just moved to colleyville area permanently. I would look at the keller are. Not all are complete cookie cutter, the neighborhood I was in, which was right by keller town point, were anywhere from 2000 to 3000 sqft. and where between 300 and 400 and had some character to them. The only thing though, is that an acre is going for like 300k right now in these areas, so the houses that I described above have virtually no yard.
Now, I know that doesnt sound ideal, but these areas all have great parks with miles of walking trails and fields for you and the kids to go explore and have fun with.
