Best excuse to avoid jury duty?

what do you guys normally use as your go to excuse to avoid serving in juries these days?

covid? mexican cartel won't let me back in the country? transgender surgery? monkeypox?

I'd call the day of and say you were in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID. They'll just excuse you then.

(worked for a judge for a year)

Don't show up. The notices aren't sent with any kind of delivery confirmation so there is no proof you were notified.

right, but i'd still have to physically go to court and waste the gas/time/energy

i need something which i can just call them and avoid going in the first place

Over the years I’ve been sent multiple jury notices. I never responded to a single one. They do not follow up or chase people. They send them regular mail.

In MS a juror must be 21 years of age and able to read and write. A juror cannot be a convicted felon, habitual drunkard or common gambler.

Tell the judge you're a habitual drunkard after taking a swig from your flask
