I’ve been in Pittsburgh for 5 years now. Definitely an underrated city and would be #2 on my list. I’d go to Boise without a doubt. I have spent time in Montana, Wyoming and Idaho. Most beautiful area of the country.

It's OK...I personally like the Northside, esp since the stadium moved up there, but would live in Woodstock or even as far up as Canton. I have a place south of macon in a hidden gem, Warner Robins.

Raleigh, NC
Lived here in 2014-2016...I didn't like it, pretentious shitheads everywhere, but decent asian food in the area (korean, thai, noodles, etc). It rained like Louisiana, but it was still 2.5 hours to a decent beach and 2.5 hours to decent mountains. ATL is closer to both. I like Charlotte better personally (well, the SC side.

All too cold...frick that, I spent my 20s in the tundra and it sucked balls. I do echo all statements about Pittsburgh, I spent 2 weeks in Moon, and it was a very liveable town. Omaha is also a decent town, just the winter is too long. I spent several weeks in and around Boise, and it's cool too...but the long winters suck arse. There's are more southern/western towns with a similar vibe and less cold. Durango, Flagstaff, Farmington, Sante Fe...and if he wanted a bigger city Albuquerque and Tuscon fit the bill.

Pittsburgh and Boise are definitely the two most underrated cities in the country. Just outright awesome cities, but Boise you also get nature. Highly recommend either one.

I'd rather live in Boise than any of those but Raleigh is a solid choice.

I'd live in Raleigh over Atlanta all day. 100 times out of 100. Not everybody hates cold either. I'd rather live in Pittsburgh than Atlanta too. And Boise, Salem, Columbus... hell most of Ops list
I might rank Atlanta last. Not sure about Ann Arbor. Never been.

I lived there at 22/23. Not sure I'd do it again for less than 500k. That might not be enough either

But the women and the food mmmmm

And the 2k broom closet apartments. I'd rather live in Omaha. Not my scene.

I know it's not on your list, but San Diego has been great for me. The weather, the girls, good nightlife for any kind of person you can think of, low crime, a lot of work here too. Also, it's still a bit different than the rest of Cali. It hasn't been completely taken over by pussies and offers a good mix of progressive/conservative features.
The only downside is the cost of living. You can find reasonable stuff about 30-45 minutes out, but if you try to go cheap in the city, it won't be in the greatest part of town.
Oh, and did I mention the females here? fricking top notch talent here. You have the ones who have moved here from other places, you have your classic southern Cal chick, you have lots of badass Asian chicks, you have your light skin black chicks who talk like you, and then you have your northern Mexicans who are bad af. These aren't your dark brown skin fatties that have that weird looking butt. These chicks look more American, usually with dark hair and blue, green or hazel eyes. They have that pretty exotic looking face with nice bodies. Some bad bitches and they love Americans. Also, the SoCal girls love a baw from the South.
So far, I've been out here for 2.5 years and it's been pretty good to me in pretty much every aspect.

I work in IT. Not a bad idea to be in a decent market even if you have remote opportunities. Especially when you are young.

40 years ago I would have said hands down, Atlanta, G-A. Sadly, they are presently at the bottom of the list.

Atlanta will get worse too. No thanks.

I'm taking a job in Big Sky, MT - but unless I want to buy a studio for 450k, or live in dormitory housing with a bunch of folks in their 20s, I'm shite out of luck. It's about an hour from Bozeman, though - beautiful little college town, maybe about 50k folks. If I decide I want to stay, it'll probably be there. Maybe not the most prudent choice for a young man, unless he is just a balls to the wall outdoorsman.

My dad lives in Montana most of the year. I absolutely love it. He's fairly close to Springhill Park.

Out of the OP's list, I'd say Boise is the easy winner, for me. Opinions vary.
