If you don’t want to pay $1000 a month for school. Prarieville is the answer.

I get Prairieville has blown up in the last couple decades. I couldn’t imagine thinking that is a decent place to live.

If schools aren’t an issue, New Roads has the best combo of rural feel and basic amenities.

Most of the more built-up suburban areas are a complete cluster. Since you don’t have kids going to school, you have the luxury of being able to avoid places like Prairieville.

Thanks for that. The “cluster” as you call it is in large part what I’m looking to avoid.

I would stay out of East Baton Rouge Parish.

The cost of supporting the local governmental structure is a growing burden that deserves to be avoided by property owners.

I will leave the parish one day but for now, convenience to work and a 2-1/2% mortgage have me not going anywhere for a while.

Who ever did the mappings for Radar Omega, they put St. George and Central bigger than Baton Rouge.

Especially if kids are not the main factor. It’s a weird, identity-free place to stick a bunch of disconnected neighborhoods. It has things you need (grocery stores, some restaurants), but there’s no sense of community, nothing scenic, etc.

It’s relatively safe and the schools are better than most other public options here, but it’s not a place I’d choose if I didn’t have kids.

Some of us don’t want to live in the crime ridden culture.

I guess the alternative would be to leave the state completely, but Prairieville is infinitely better than the pile of shite that is Baton Rouge.

This reminds me why I moved away after college. How f’ing depressing is that list.

It’s not easy living here.

Zachary is on the downward slop to being a wealthier Baker.
Central isn't bad, but bad elements are beginning to appear.
Denham has gone back to being old Livingston.
St. Francisville is quiet, but has sketchy local politics.

Just don't move back here would be my suggestion.

Haha, that sure seems to be the general consensus. It’s a shame how negative everyone’s opinions are of the area.
