I didnt know whether to put this on the tech or music board, but figured i would get my quickest response here..

I dont use my phone for music often, but when im mowing the yard or taking a quick trip somewhere, i would like to have a playlist that i can listen to and not use data on my phone. My company pays my cell phone bill, and the plan doesnt come with unlimited data. Never had them complain, but im trying to respect them by not burning through data.

So what apps do you use, because the few i have tried sucked, or they didnt actually download the song so you could listen without internet.

MFER get a Spotify Family plan and share it with your wife and kids or split the $16 a month with 5 of your friends you cheap frick.
A real music service(not iheartradio or pandora) will change your life.

You can get a streaming service for less than 100 bucks a year.

And some allow "storage" of songs you choose on your phone so you can listen offline.

And I use "storage" because you don't really get the song file, just allows you to play offline

It is. Oweo is kinda retarded. Go with Spotify on a free trial. If you don't like it, then try Google or Amazon. I promise you will be like "what the frick have I been doing for the last 8 yrs? This is great!"

Jeezus frickin Christ.

Spotify/Google/Apple/Amazon all allow you to make your OWN playlists, not some "Hank Williams Radio" station where they play suggested songs for you. Although that feature is also available on the 'real' services.

You can then make your own playlists and download up to 3k songs(spotify) per device to take with you on a flight or anywhere you dont want to use data. Only requirement is you go online to validate your subscription to keep the downloaded songs(You're basically renting them by the month to get technical). If you keep a device offline for 30 days, it'll just 'undownload' the playlists. You can easily toggle the switch when you get back online. This isn't an issue if you are using your phone and wifi.

It'll sync up with playlists you follow as well. Like I follow 90s and 80s hits playlists that will update when I'm on wifi. This goes for friends' playlists too.

It's the best thing that's ever happened to music since the digital age.

I'm intrigued. You're either old or from some very small town off the map.

It is.
And it's not. You can create stations just like Pandora, but better. iHeart Radio doesn't leave genre, so if you start a station with Son Volt, you're going to hear Americana, and only Americana. I love it.

Brozart, with Spotify I can follow a ton of Americana Playlists that are updated regularly. I can download these Playlists and hand pick songs out as they play and add them to "Mikels Rad Americana Jamz". All this in addition to playing "son volt radio" if I choose too.

Get a real service.. Here is the 1st screen of just searching Americana Playlists(managed by others. Most popular first).
