Not trying to flame or "subtle brag", but I am at my side job. I took this job because it was fairly easy. Catch up on email and shite. Make nice money.

BUT, I am literally gonna sit on my arse for 10 of 12 hours. What is you max? Whether it be a meeting? A class you are being paid to attend or a workshop? At what measurement of time are you near willing to say "keep the money. This is hell?"

Ib4 frick you

Ib4 suck it up.

I can hear my dads voice in my head saying "they pay you what? And you're siting? They'd have to drag me out!" the last line about dragging is a literal quote from my uncle when I was whining about overtime.

I'm not a millennial. Before that gets suggested.

Just wanted to get some thoughts on the subject, AND kill some fricking time!!!

If my boss is happy and things are slow, it's just the way things are But I usually have something I can find to do that is work related.

I had a project that lasted for 4 months in which all I did everyday was drive to the site, park under a shade tree, and sit and watch for 10 hours

My only job was to report back at the end of the day and tell the client that yes, the contractors did actually do what they were supposed to do today, which was excavate a 9 acre property

I read lots of books in those 4 months

It does get quite boring after awhile

Make good use of your time. Learn a new language. Take an online course. Use the downtime to better yourself. There's always a better way to spend your time than just sitting on your arse.

I hate sitting, I have to be doing something.

This job I have now I just sit in this chair and make sure it doesn't go anywhere. It is a nice vacation from working 6 12's every night.

It's bout time to drag up

The last job I had was miserable. They hired me with the thought another guy with a similar background was moving on to a higher position which he ended up not getting. I was paid $120K and literally had nothing to do. I would try to involve myself in things but there simply was just not enough work so eventually for 2 years I stared at a blank computer screen for 8 hours a day. It really messed me up mentally. Sometimes when you get in a mindset of not doing anything, it carries over to other aspects of your life. I found myself being too lazy to do things I had previously enjoyed and basically had to take a nap when I got home everyday. I ended up gaining 20-30lbs over this period and finally couldn't stand it anymore and found a job elsewhere.

What I WANT is to bring my guitar up here and practice til my fingers force me to stop. But I know none of these people and breaking out a guitar is kind of a prickish "look at me" thing to do. And I suck. It will be painful practice to listen to.

any manager or business owner knows there's going to be periods of down time. Depending on your line of work you can do research or read articles about your field. Always a no-no to get caught doing absolutely nothing.

Manager is an old co worker buddy of mine. It is also a place where several different people come in all the time. So nobody knows each other. Nobody talks. Painful.

So I talk to you guys instead.

I loved my job working at a change store. Just literally made change for people who would walk up. They need 4 5's in exchange for a $20? Done...don't have to get out of my seat. Only a few minutes of work a day.

Seems like an odd but necessary business. How did it make money?

Depends on your personality.

I could (and have) sat in offices where I was the only person there. Did jobs literally out in the middle of nowhere. Didn't bother me in the least.

But my SO (before her disability) had one of those jobs where she never talked to anyone, and it nearly drove her up the wall. She had to be in an environment where she was communicating with other people.

Meet xanax, it'll get you through the day and you'll enjoy doing nothing.

Healthcare. I found a healthcare job where I am not working like a dog. So I feel really stupid complaining.

Healthcare job. People will know. I would know if it were someone else. Plus I can't sleep. That's pretty much the only no no that you can't defend. No sleeping.

If it were a night shift, it is frowned upon but understood.
