The Indians at my kid's junior high did it too, before the Chinese shushed them. Even the Latinas were quiet, mostly.

At my son’s graduation everyone except one family were very classy. This one family just yelled and whistled a little, but it wasn’t that bad. Of course this family was middle eastern and the kid and his dad attended all of the pro Palestine rally’s in the area and I think were both arrested at least once.

...because we live in the social media generation. Everything is about entertainment and stardom even at the cost of civil responsibility

No elaboration needed. Asked to hold applause and ignored. Celebrate if you must but don’t ruin it for the family whose kid is next. Just be civil, if you must scream Shamikas name then time it so you don’t cover up the next kids name.

So you must have been at a smaller ceremony, if you couldn't hear the speaker over the screaming. It doesn't really make a difference at a big venue, but I agree it should only be a quick shout/cheer, then stfu for the next kid. I prefer a brief cheer for each kid over a boring monotone announce every name in quietness, then everyone cheer. It's each kid's moment for a brief second, let them get cheered on and celebrated for their accomplishment, while on a stage in front of a crowd. The excessive drawing it out for 30 seconds plus is ridiculous though.

Any family members who made noise during my HS graduation ceremony were removed from the building.

Granted, I didn't graduate with any of "those people" fortunately.

Graduating HS is a pretty minimum achievement. It’s said people feel the need to celebrate that much for it.

Why do “some people” feel the need to excessively scream, jump up and down and act like they were born in a zoo during graduation?

They can't help it.

The fatigue is real.

Why? Because it’s the only time they are relevant and they are trying to make the most of it. Sad.

I've always thought this argument was about college graduation.

Let me answer your questions in order:

1. zoo animals don't act that bad
2. Yes they do
3. Yes it is.

It is minimum, but if you're not going to celebrate a little, why even go? You just want to sit in silence, listen to some boring speeches, then remain in silence as they just read off names and have them walk across the stage? Why even bother, if that's all it is?

The uncivilized are going to be uncivilized. None of them have a clue as to what a "finishing school" is about.
