At what age did it first sound weird and what age does it stop sounding weird?
Its polite and proper but cant help but make you feel old.
Just got a Hello Sir from 28-30 year old trainer. I’m 45.

I get called sir, and still call people sir.
It’s not that weird.

It’s only weird if it happens outside the South.
Yankees have no manners.

Depends on location.
In some Spanish-speaking countries, you always call a woman Señorita because Señora is implying she's old.

I'm 23 years old, so it's weird regardless.
But if I'm at a restaurant or store I actually appreciate it because I realize they're just being polite.

This
It’s called respect... and it’s something that’s taught.
Unfortunately not enough.

I like it. I require all my household staff to address me as sir.

I don't know. I was probably a teenager when customer service types started calling me sir. Somewhere in my twenties when youngsters. I guess it all depends on context.

I earned my Sir just like the old farts before me earned theirs.

It’s stupid. You show respect through your actions, not by calling someone “sir”

I’m 26 and get called sir by college kids. Weird AF

How you choose to speak is an action.

People who make a big deal when someone calls them sir/Mr. are fricking idiots.
I especially hate when you say Mr. Smith and they’re like call me Jim, Mr. Smith was my dad.
You know what, just stfu and accept that the person is trying to be respectful.

I am 37 and still say sir and ma’am. Out of respect. I don’t think I expect it, at all. When friends kids say “Miss Liz”, it’s cute.

So if I punch you in the face but call you “sir” it’s all good amirite?

I'm hoping to one day get called "sir" without it being followed by "we are going to need you to leave."
