It’s not a hate for the actual destination. It’s the weird lifestyle thing going on with it where you have to go every year multiple times a year, tell everyone about it, have friends you go with every time, and you gotta put a 30A sticker on your mid size SUV next to the sticker for your kid’s middle school. These same people blow lots of money to go there multiple times a year when they actually could afford to go on a nice vacation to somewhere better on a less frequent basis

I'm guessing the majority of people on this site in Louisiana, Miss and Alabama are going to those places for their vacations. People don't ridicule the location so much as the group think and unmerited pride that goes along with spending a week in certain places. No different than how people shite on the weird Disney/Orlando obsession on this board, or 30A sticker jokes.

Couple things:
1) Going to the Maldives is legit more interesting than going to Destin
2) Most people who travel with some regularity in Europe still aren't putting Eiffel Tower stickers on their car to let everyone know about it
There are plenty of people who go to 30A all the time because they like it and have some longstanding connections with the area. Sure, it's a small fortune that could be spent on other vacations, but who cares. A lot of those people, particularly the ones who don't make a big deal out of going there, are probably taking bigger, more interesting vacations as well.
The ones who deserve the ire are the try hards who have the sticker and go down once every 3 years despite telling everyone they know that it's "my happy place."

Damn, I was just playing into this guy’s list. I’ve been to the gulf coast every year for probably 30 years. Most years twice. I love me some orange beach. But I don’t consider myself better than anyone else, either.
