Beagle or Mini Goldendoodle

In the market for a dog for the kids and narrowed it down to these two options. Kids are under 5, and he/she would stay inside. Are there any reputable breeders within a couple hours of Baton Rouge? I've found one of each so far.

They were also part of one of the GOAT headlines

beagles are runners...you need to train them to stay or come back...common trick is put treats in a can and shake it and give them a treat...helps to get them close when they run so you can get them back in the yard...

imo..labs are always the best choice..if small.... a cavachon is great.....has some bird dog so fun in the yard...look like toy stuffed animals even when adults...

Better have that beagle on a leash any time you step outside

We rescued a Beagle, she was amazing but my parents said they will never get another one because they love to run off
Luckily ours was fat & loved to stop & mark every few feet so she was easy to catch up with

Playing with my doodle was the highlight of my 6th grade year.

Mine was neither golden nor a mini, but for our purposes here, these details are not terribly salient.

I was able to outsource this effort by my High School years to compliant females and the fun level was dramatically increased.

So my recommendation would be the doodle.

Beagles are hard to keep home....they are hounds and like to wander. I had one and it was a chore keeping him home.
I would think the GoldenDoodle is pricey!

My best recommendation is to find a good rescue....I have had great success with rescues.

Mini doodle

Mine just fell asleep watching golf with me. She’s 3 years old and weighs 18 lbs. Incredibly loyal.

Nothing against beagles. Had a beagle mix growing up. My in-laws have one currently and besides the barking and shedding he’s a cool dog.

ETA just woke up

Beagles howl if anything.

They can run away but they are fatties at heart. Just get the treat bag and they come running back at the sound.

Sadly beagles are used for animal testing such as makeup because they will tolerate A LOT.

They make great pets for kids , which is something the OP was looking for.

Unless you have land Doodle by a mile.

Beagles can develop bad behavior if not stimulated on the reg and exercised. They are hunters first

That being said there is nothing cuter than a pot bellied beagle puppy.
