yep. Generally, the more elevation you have, the fitter the population.

I got more sunburnt in Colorado last month than I typically do from going to the beach. The sun is brutal at 13,000 feet.
You're not wrong, the sunshine in Colorado hits different and you'll get burnt in an instant.
I've lived in mountainous places like Alaska, Colorado, and Europe. To me nothing beats that. But now I live near 30a and it's a damn good life here too. I don't know which I prefer more, but I know I'll never choose to live in a place that offers neither.

With little kids: the beach
With older kids: the mountains
With just my wife: mountains

I like both but late in my life I prefer the mountains. The beach seems more like a chore now and after about an hour, I've had enough. The mountains never get boring IMO. I don't hike but just love the air and climate in the mountains.

I honestly do love the beach, the ocean air, and calming nature it has, which is good since I live on the coast. But give me legit mountains & forests all day.

Along the West Coast, you can have both.

I don't hate the beach, but it does get a bit boring. I'm done after 3-4 days.
I much prefer mountains, hiking, rafting, cooler climate (generally), etc...

I enjoy both. I find the mountains more enjoyable with the kids though.

I stayed in Carlsbad near Camp Pendleton for about a month last Fall, and it was incredible. I know California has earned it's bad reputation, but that area is beautiful, and I could totally see myself living there.

Last time home, I was shocked at how big everyone is. Hit me just how few fat people I see up in Vail/Summit/Leadville (well summer vacationers aside).

I prefer the mountains. At this point a mild summer is more important to me than a mild winter. I don’t care for sand. I’ve never really understood sitting in the sand and watching the water. I do enjoy a good boat day out on the sandbar but that sun these days is brutal. When I’m out west in the summer the sun is still super strong but at least the air temp is below #heatstroke temps.
