Still seems baffling that someone would be OK paying $1k+ per month and not care that it has to be brought in for repairs several times per year.

LOL! Look into just the maintenance costs for high end sports cars!

I drive a 2012 RR Sport HSE w/ 113K mi on the clock. I bought it w/25K mi and CPO, so I had warranty up to 100K. It's been an excellent vehicle, brakes and tires are of course expensive. I go to an independent shop for routine maintenance, they are on the level. I never had any major mechanical problems - worst thing that I've had happen was an ignition coil go out at around 105K mi. Ext paint still looks great and inside appointments have held up very well. It's been off-road, its been in snow/ice and flash floods and has done what I've needed it to. It is a superb handling vehicle (unibody construction) that belies its size and boxy look (its the previous body style). Definitely got money's worth, and haven't had the yen to get rid of it yet - that's unusual for me.

Wife has a 2013 LR4 the Lux HSE version. Also bought it CPO w/ this one w/ 10K on the odo. It just turned over 100K. Had a few more nuisance issues - never anything catastrophic and other than same high cost to own as any premium car brand, I can't complain. We've used it to tow a boat, family vacations, etc and have no complaints. Before that she had a Sequoia she put about 150K on before passing it down to the first driving kid. Ext paint looks great, insides still comfortable and nice. Don't know when she'll buy something new or what it will be, but I wouldn't be shocked if she owned another Land Rover.

In the last 20 years we have owned Toyota, Nissan, VW, Lexus, Volvo, BMW and MB (including cars I have bought for teenage drivers) and ownership experience has not been out of line with the others.

We had one. It sucked. Would never buy again.

Dumped it and got an Acura MDX instead.

Wife has a 2016 LR4 w about 50K miles on it. Never had a problem at all. Routine service is covered in the purchase price for 3 years; warranty 5 years. We will drive it till the wheels fall off; it’s a great vehicle.

I'm well aware, but I dont mind maintenance, even if it is expensive or excessive compared to a Camry. Maintenance is known up front. Your climate control spontaneously going AWOL is something very different.

When Nissan came out with the GTR, owners were shredding their transmissions in "drag mode". Nissan was declining coverage under the warranty, even though no modifications had been made. Care to guess what the tranny costs for that car?

Garbage. Electrical problems that Land Rover knows about but won’t recall.

2015 RR Sport bought for my wife.
Never heard the end of her getting pissed about the electrical issues.
Sold it in 2019 and a little quieter in the house now.
Mechanically never had any major issues.
Electrically every few months I took it in for something.

Where does everyone in the NOLA area take their Range Rover for service? I avoid Paretti like the plague for anything related to service.

Parents had a Range Rover ('95 model) that had the elusive air leak in height control system. No serious issues, but maintenance was extremely costly and frequent.

Friend has a Discovery (not sure what year) with 260,000 miles that has been very reliable throughout its life.

ETA...I forgot that I have another friend who lives in Miramar Beach that restores Rovers.

I’ve never owned one, but the main issues seem to be blown head gaskets and electrical.

A long time ago, but leased a Discovery for three years. I wanted a good off road vehicle & it certainly delivered. Took it some places I probably never should have been in some pretty rough & on occasion, muddy terrain. No major issues in the time I had it.

Hear some pretty good things from current owners, but none of them go off road. So why a Rover I ask. Never get a valid answer, but guessing it is just the name and a little prestige.

Guess I am old school, but I want an off road vehicle to look like an off road vehicle, not the current designs.

I am very familiar with the growing pains of the GTR. IIRC it was stated up front that using launch control would void the warranty - I may be wrong, this is now 11 years ago - but I do remember it pissed people off. Nissan addressed this a few years later (2012 model year I believe) and they've continued to sell GTRs ever since. I'm not sure what any of this has to do with expensive luxury vehicles that have decades of reliability problems which the manufacturer seems unwilling or unable to rectify, but hey I like talking cars so
