You ought to see the stern when they hit the throttles

Probably more like he's paying a driver,

They call that person a captain and Im certain that capt is a full time employee and is paid very well.

I'm also willing to bet that deckhand is also a full time employee and is also paid very well.

There's also probably a cook on board, he's inside cooking lunch right now

This is a picture of them either going in or out of the Jupiter inlet

I just checked the AIS and that boat cruises at 35 knots

debatable, the wealthy are notoriously cheap when it comes to paying the help, probably makes a livable wage, unless he's driving the big boat too

t that deckhand

is called the first mate and probably has his Captain's license and is building time/experience towards trying to get a Captain's job(and taking care that no unfortunate accident befalls his Captain out on the high seas ) doubt he makes much at all

he/she would be called a chef, and is probably making as much or more than the Captain and first mate combined

not the guys that I know that have full time capt's...and they pay them well to keep them around. It's usually six figures for a boat that size

Nah...there's only one licence capt on board for a day trip like that... and the rest are deck hands that MJ keeps around. The first mate isnt washing that boat down once the trip is over.

In the boat business we call them cooks and galley hands.

but you're right MJ probably has a chef

80 is already too big for a sport fisher.

That is what I alluded to earlier. As the LOA of the boat increases so do the chances of losing big fish.

That's why I posted the Spencer 70' IPS as my choice for the biggest sport fisher I would own. The IPS system lets it work a fish like a much smaller boat and the hull is one of the best-designed sport fishers on the water. You see some of the mega sport fishers in billfish tournaments but rarely are they in the top of the standings.

Not so sure about that.

The captain is facing the stern, on his cellphone and his right hand is on the port throttle. If they were running out or in, he would likely be facing the bow especially in what looks to be at least 3-4 seas.

To me it looks like they are idle or backing up to something. The deckhand to Jordans Left has a rod in his hand with a line in the water.

ain't fishing yet, unless they stopped by that old sunken tanker near the inlet to pick something up off the bottom, unlikely though, that's not what that boat's for, baw

ETA: that one line that's in the water is just the obligatory, "just in case" line they ran out while getting to deep water

Which may be why MJ didn’t place in the competition.

That place gets serious. Tons of videos online of boats struggling to make it through safely.
