Here is another study as to the effects of Cholesterol on Heart disease.

quote:This is useless advice. Everyone knows they should take care of themselves. But, there are significant numbers of people who do and still have cardiac disease. In many cases it's genetic and has nothing to do with diet or exercise. I know of two people in the last year who've needed stent placement and were not overweight and engaged in a decent amount of exercise.
I agree with the previous downvoted poster who said just take better care of yourself,

similar story with me. 59 yo, 6-4, 260. Statins for 20 plus years. Mild, intermittent pain only. abnormal stress. Cath showed 99% blockage. Stents. 70 days ago down 15 lbs, target is 220. Get the damn stress test.

These type threads bring out the teens. Heart disease is preventable in a lot of instances and in many cases it is not. It is best to have regular check ups and follow medical advice in most every case.
I dont think it would be that big of an inconvenience to do that so you could enjoy your life and family quite a bit longer.

In general, masturbation is good for you. It lowers blood pressure, is good cardiovascular exercise, burns calories. Be sure to alternate hands to avoid overuse injuries.
The only real downside is visual changes which can led to misspeled werds ant inagility to mate a futional sentince.

Maybe, but you saying it's teens etc...well this is the same board that thinks it's perfectly normal and acceptable to drink daily and that doesn't make you an alcoholic.
The same board that believes that BMI doesn't pertain to them because they have muscle mass(even though they haven't lifted in 15-20 years) and the charts are a joke.
The same board who complains about fatties constantly but when things like weight are brought up, people like the poster above say they are 6'4" 260 and they aren't fat but could stand to lose 15-20lbs. Laughable
Maybe it does bring out the teens, but maybe you should listen. I'm late 30s maybe listen to me.
It's laughable how little most of you know and understand about nutrition, exercise, and health. We live in a time where the knowledge is at the tips of your fingers literally, yet most parents can't even play with their kids without being out of breath.
It's laziness. Pure utter laziness

Hey 777 Screw you. I know I'm overweight. Didn't say I wasn't

Didn't mean anything by it man, was just using it as an example. Don't take offense please, I am an a-hole at all times, usually without realizing it.
Really glad you made it through everything and are on a much better path. If you ever need any help with the journey hit me up on the H&F board.

Glad to hear you’re doing ok. Open heart surgery is tough.
Lifestyle modification is probably the best thing you can do to improve your health. I know it’s repeated over and over but diet and exercise work, especially exercise. Find something your enjoy but that is vigorous at the same time - swimming, biking, running, martial arts, etc. I don’t know if you smoke but if you do, stop immediately. That is probably the number 1 modifiable risk factor to improve your overall health (weight being a close second).
To those asking about BMI, while it is a risk factor, cardiac disease has a high genetic component. I’ve taken care of patients who are normal weight who suffer from severe coronary disease. While definitely a risk factor, just being obese doesn’t necessarily indicate heart disease.

Correct but outside of smoking, it is the number 1 indicator. It is not end all be all but it's a damn good indicator.
The reason why is it usually indicates terrible diet and exercise habits.

Wait what? And I didn't mean to put "you" meant to put people. Sorry typing this during rest between sets.
Didn't mean to offend you and didn't use you as an example in anything intentionally.
And post on H&F board if you have a question. Honestly wasn't speaking about you in any of that, promise.

I have no questions. I have a quite a few hours of graduate studies in public health and a masters of exercise science.
I am sure it pales in comparison to the training others have but I know a tiny bit about epidemiology and the like

You prolly know more than 95% of people period and 98-99% of posters here.
I will be making a post in the next month that outlines everything I believe to be best practice for health and strength for the normal family person. Will detail exercise, diet and supplementation with studies to back everything up. Hoping it to be a roadmap for those looking to live a healthy lifestyle.

Spent my 30s and early 40s seeing my doc pretty regularly. Then one day I woke up and noticed I was in about 5 different prescriptions inc Anti depressant and adult adderal. Dropped everything and I have never felt better. Docs are just legal drug dealers.

years back you posted about getting cramps after drinking...... did you figure it out? I have the same issue....... I’ve found that margaritas, and even cheap juice drinks like lime, pineapple/coconut drinks have the same effect!
