What does that have to do with it?

I’m just curious what her plans would be for Catholics that want to get married in a church (aside from just being “tacky”)

a Friday wedding can be quite burdensome for work/travel (especially for the wedding party).

Been to a few

Everyone bitches about them, but whatever I’m sure it was nice.

Not sure what time the latest ceremony allowed on Saturdays would be to not conflict with Saturday evening mass, but...

3:00 ceremony

6:00 cocktail hour before reception
7:00 reception/dinner

Local guests can go home or somewhere else in between. Out of towners can go back to hotel.

Is that just a Baton Rouge thing? Catholic weddings on Saturday night are the norm in New Orleans.

Of note, receptions are typically less expensive on Fridays than Saturdays.

I thought it was a south Lousiana thing but I guess it’s just a BR thing for Friday catholic weddings

I could see that. I honestly thought Saturday weddings in the Catholic church were normal.

My ceremony was in South Carolina and if we wanted a Saturday wedding it had to be at 2pm at the latest.

You really believe the only possible alternative to a Saturday evening wedding is a tacky AF Friday evening wedding?

During lent? Yes.

It depends on the Diocese and the Church.

Baton Rouge has a year-round no Saturday evening wedding rule. Mainly because the liturgical services for that Sunday have begun.

New Orleans, Mobile, and other dioceses allow for Saturday evening weddings. But often they are limited or not allowed in Lent.
