Where do you live, and where did you grow up?

Nobody from NE LA uses the term. Only time I hear it is when I am talking to someone from Acadiana and then it is still pretty infrequent.

It's 100% a south Louisiana thing. My mom has always called her brother "baw".

I can remember anytime he would call from the time I was a little kid until now, she'd answer the phone and say "hey baw". We lived on the Westbank. I think she would say it more as a joke, but it shows that "baw" is a real thing.

So when I see people saying baw on here it makes me laugh.
