Dumb arse comes stomping towards a police officer. What do you expect?
A couple notes though: the cop was called to check it out, he put his lights on in advance when if he hadn't known it could have looked like he was pulling a u-turn right there and waiting for an opportunity. It also sounded like the guy had been walking through traffic. If true, officer has suspicion that he is acting irrational or is crazy. Then he storms the officer. Obvious choice by the officer given what we see.

bullshite. Do we have some unusual numbers of cops getting shot to death? Cops would like you to believe that they get shot at on a regular basis. The reality is, it is exceedingly rare given the number of police encounters that happen everyday.

It's also exceedingly rare that a perp gets shot, yet the media would have you think cops are running around mowing down every black man they see for fun.

You're missing the point but if you want to bury your head in the sand and blame the media, go ahead. At some point we have to stop crying about what the media is feeding us.
What I'm trying to say is, cops want you think there is some kind of crazy war zone out there that they are protecting you from. It's just not true. Cops don't do shite to prevent anything unless you consider locking someone up for one crime as preventing them from harming someone later on down the road. Cops have shite jobs, low pay, shite hours, and even worse training. It's not their fault. For the most part they don't know how to deal with stress, they don't know how to fight, a vast majority of them don't practice with they weapon outside of POST. It's scary to think about, now imagine being thrown into a situation where you have to use these limited skills to do a job. The only thing you can do is protet yourself at all costs, that's how you end up with trigger happy cops. Their only concern is going home safe.
I don't think the cop in the OP should face any legal complications but he has proved he is not emotionally equipped to deal with a stressful situation. He is dangerous to the people around him as long as he is carrying a gun. He panicked. The end.

The lights were for the citizen's benefit and the officer's benefit. Lights on when stopped in traffic always. Even if I'm changing an elderly person's tire lights on.
