No infantry should have been involved. You can’t blame Churchill when the plan enacted WASNT HIS PLAN.
Whatever, stupid. You're like one of 10 people in the world who don't blame him for that failure.

So, I’m stupid because I don’t blame Churchill for the massive amounts of infantry deaths because Churchill’s plan didn’t call for infantry?
Hm. Weird position to take.
Most people blame Churchill because that’s what they’re told to do. “Gallipoli was Churchill’s plan!” Yet they don’t even know what Churchill’s plan was nor what it called for. Nor do they realize how different his plan was from what happened.
Churchill knew it was going to be costly, that’s why he put units that were expendable there. Had the admirals not been chickenshit and attached to their outdated ships and used them as commanded rather than sitting back and playing safe, who knows how it would have turned out.
But, as history will tell you, as soon as admiral de robeck halted the advance to wait, all advantage was lost and the stage was set for a massacres

My wife's (no pics) great-grandfather served with the 89th Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps and was wounded at Gallipoli. He later served in France and Belgium.
These are his medals, and medals of one of his sons who was in the Northumberland Fusiliers.

Turkey, Morocco, and Tunisia are all on my ME travel list.
I guess one of those countries in the ME, although Gallipoli technically isn't.

Make that at least 11.
Churchill's fall from grace at that time was more political has he had bounced from Conservative to Liberal and the Conservative party was brought into the coalition government.
