Zydeco has nothing to do with Baton Rouge. They should have called themselves the Baton Rouge Thunderbolts as Harding Field was a major P-47 training base during WW2.

I really don’t think they could have chosen a worse mascot. Nondescript, very little to do with Baton Rouge. They would have made more on merch sales if they’d just gone for something funny or outrageous. Who wants a Baton Rouge Zydeco shirt?

Why not just call them the Red Sticks? Hell, the stick in the logo is red! Now, if there were only some sort of association with red sticks and Baton Rouge?

Good god, wtf is wrong with this city. Kingfish had sentimental appeal, a cool logo and a unique name.
