Baton Rouge traffic lights late at night

Why don’t they program most of them to flash red/yellow?
For instance, the other night I was driving down Bluebonnet and it was after midnight, on a weeknight. I had to stop at the light at Blue Cross and a light at Gail. Both times, nobody was waiting at the intersection.
I get having them run normal at places like Bluebonnet/Jefferson but even interstate exits should be flashing too.
I’m talking about starting to flash them at 11:00pm. Nothing crazy.
What says the OT?

S Harrels Ferry and Sherwood is awful too. It does change over to using sensors after a certain time at night though.

I think we have been taxed several times to install smart lights. Or at least that’s what we have been told.
In this day and age I can’t believe lights can’t be programmed for certain times?

Or at least use the sensors that detect a vehicle. Those have been around forever. I'm rarely out past 10pm anymore unless I'm coming from work but it is stupid to sit at a light all by yourself for minutes waiting for it to change.

Sensors change the lights quicker, but the lights will always eventually change regardless. My guess is it's a backup method in case the sensors don't work.

They can't control the lights during the day when people ar out driving, good luck getting them to control the lights at night. Great idea though

I have run quite a few lights late at night after i stop and check to make sure no cars are around.
I’m not about to risk someone’s safety if cars are around but if the intersection is clear except for me, I’m going through the light.

When I spent two weeks in Omaha for the 2009 CWS (dem Tigers) I loved how Omaha makes their lights flash yellow/red late at night. Was awesome.
It makes no sense that a red light can’t be a stop sign from 12 am - 5 am or whatever you want to set the law to be.

My wife’s uncle is a retired police officer in Shreveport. He said most carjackings took place at red lights in the middle of the night and wouldn’t care if he saw a person running a light
