That was still a pretty vibrant area of town when I was a kid. Sad how run down it's become.

These people think that if you just put a Perkins Rowe in the middle of scenic hwy that it’ll be just like SBR. The truth is that no matter how much money you sink into that area, you won’t change the people that live there.

But for a corridor that long, $5 million seems like a small amount to work with.

5 million will build a couple of bus stops

Putting Perkins Rowe at Perkins Rowe hasn’t exactly had the effect that was hoped for.

There is still shopping and restaurants but the economic activity seems to be much lower than they were hoping for.

Can You name any historical buildings anywhere on plank road. All I can think of might be the old ranchero site if building Is still there.

$5M will put a small dent into fixing up that area.

I was thinking more like a large dent. $5M would buy a good amount of dynamite.

This goes back several years.

There was enough business to keep most of the stuff there open but there wasn’t near enough business to justify the expansion they were hoping for.

Lots of land out there and it went undeveloped for a number of reasons. Spinoza’s bullshite with the apartments and the water plant didn’t help.

Build Baton Rouge and its partners look forward to building up north Baton Rouge's Plank Road community, an area that, once a thriving and vibrant part of town, is now home to residents who struggle with poverty, blight, and crime.

It’s as if the poverty, blight, and crime are thrust upon the residents from some outside scourge. Roving bands of Huns who come in, cause havoc, and then leave the peaceful residents a mess to clean up.

Investors should understand by now that the residents are the poverty, blight, and crime problem.

Solve the food desert problem and the area will become a jewel of the South. Just like Iraq became a flower of democracy after Saddam.

This is the major problem. If money was used how it should be, it would make a large difference. The culture is another major proponent, but I really try to see the best in people and think if people would see effort being put it, they would likely try to keep it pretty. At least for the most part, some people just don't care, but they never stick around because they stick out like a sore thumb.

I know there are a lot of naysayers on the OT, but something has to be done about north Baton Rouge.

NBR's only chance would be if laws are enforced and jail/prison sentences are upheld. Drugs, welfare mentality, reverse racism and no family values won't be fixed anytime soon.

The 5 million award may put some lipstick on the NBR pig, but it won't last very long.
