Most times the best places that offer support are small communities in the proximity of an active military installation.

Probably right.

How would you rank Augusta, Bossier, Killeen, etc?

This is a dumb ranking. The majority of these statistics are just as prevalent for non veterans. What the statistics don't highlight as well is that the cities ranking high are in close proximity to large military installations (Austin and Ft Hood) or major DoD companies like Lockheed in Ft Worth area.

Bossier

Bossier Chamber of Commerce actively works with local military units and there are several veterans support orgs they work with too. They invite local military unit leaders and representatives to various functions throughout the year, still get their emails.

Detroit sucks, but the Detroit metro itself is actually very solid and reasonable for a big city

Metro Detroit is genuinely so nice outside of the known problem zones. It’s a huge area with many very nice suburbs.

Whenever I say the American dream of homeownership isn’t dead and that people just need to move somewhere underrated, Metro Detroit is exactly the type of place they should be considering.
