So cop needs to risk his life to satisfy the almighty Salmon when a person is not following his orders and reaches for something. I'll never agree to that.

He probably would yell at you first. Would you continue with what you were doing if he told you to freeze?

When you ask someone for their ID. You cannot just shoot them when they do as you said. WTF

The guy said he legally owns a firearm, and was correct. What criminal would tell a cop that he has a firearm, reach for it, and then proceed to shoot the cop. Seriously, does that really makes sense?

Did I say they could?

It makes as much sense as someone reaching when told not to. None of it makes sense.

its JMO

it also depends on how the person is acting and the situation

like I said, if the guy was acting aggressive towards the cop I would change my mind

but if someone is acting calm and has been upfront with you the whole time, then yes, I strongly believe in the wait and see

You're taking her story as being 100% accurate. If it happened like she said, 99% would say murder.

It's more than unlikely. I don't expect a cop to risk his life either, but I'm getting tired of how low the threshold for "life threatening" has become.

absolutely

Being a cop is risking your life. You cant just kill someone because you were scared and not have to be held accountable at all ever.

Without watching a video of what happened, I find it troubling you assume the very panicky cop is automatically in the right because he has a badge and a gun.

Complying doesn't mean you think he's right. I've complied with officers that I thought were wrong before. Nothing good comes from not complying.

Not necessarily disagreeing (although legally I can think of plenty of scenarios where not complying is legal but I digress)- what I am saying is that nothing I have seen so far leads me to believe he didn't comply. In fact if he did disclose he's a a CCL holder, he's the one following the rules. The point I have a problem with is simply believing the officer because he has a badge.

Like I said, assuming the dash cam tape isn't melting somewhere, I hope we see it. Until then it's hard to say what happened, though I am leaning towards the drivers story without more info.

Just curious, but is there factual evidence that he was a straight A student and that he had no criminal record?

The cop was Asian, so I think this is a safe assumption.

never said it wasn't legal. It's just not smart.

No one said to believe him just because he has a badge. You're making up an argument that no one is having.

I'm talking about the dead guy. People are claiming he had no criminal record and was a straight A student in high school.

Why are you assuming he didn't comply? Because the cop said so?

also, is the cop not allowed to help the guy after he shoots him?

is he not allowed to move the body in this type of situation?

all cops have more than basic EMT training these days
