Last time I went, I was a student worker on an ambulance. We worked a shooting. Haven;t been back since.

Could be worse. Saddest thing I've ever seen was "downtown" Sandusky, Ohio.

Which is why some of us older posters who still get down town a good bit are VERY grateful for what has happened downtown and around BR in general for social/dining/night life scene.

All the shite BR gets is funny. Yall shoulda been around here and 21 yrs old in 1994 looking for something to do.
Other than Ruth's Chris or Chalet Brandt(velvet cactus now), Outback Steakhouse and Ninfas were new and the place to be seen having a drink at the bar or bite to eat. other than that we had dive bars, tigerland, and daiquiri shops. Let that digest... then smile.

brickyard south

Wasn't Brickyard south an existing establishment (Mud & Water) that he was already a partial owner in? I thought what went down was he was an investor, one of the main guys with the concept saw some shady stuff going down on the money side and wanted to get out so he was bought out and the concept was changed to Brickyard South?

Yeah I think something of that nature occurred. Couldn't remember exactly how it went down but I remember the actual Mud and Water guy pulling out and saying he may try that concept else where because of something funny with the money (or that they just weren't makibg it; I don't know).

I didn't know any of that group was a partial owner prior to the brickyard south concept. Wasn't too familiar with the venue; went to see my brother play once and maybe went one other time to M&W. Haven't been to brickyard south at all.

Mud&Water ran out of money. I don't know if Delgado was in it then. But other than the 13th gate and some events downtown, there's not much on that end to bring in customers. Brickyard is nice for those who don't like the crowds on 3rd, tho.

Brickyard strikes me as a service industry place. The folks working there are chill and the drink prices are good. And it's a quiet low key crowd, not a bunch of douchenozzles.

My band played at Brickyard South a couple of times.
Besides during Halloween (13th Gate), there were very small crowds. Even when a few of my buddies' bands played there, the crowds were small.

If you are looking to sit in a booth and chat it up, then it isn't a bad place. But for live music, it isn't somewhere I'd recommend.

The fact that they started having trivia there on Friday nights shows the kind of crowds they're getting. Shoot, they had a crawfish boil last Friday night on top of trivia. But when I go out, I just want to have a few drinks, talk to my wife/friends and shoot the shite with the bartender if he or she is cool. I'm an old married man, I'm not trying to pick up chicks.

I will say the bartenders are typically super nice there, I think they are alternating shifts at the Tap Room now.

do you think they're hanging on to that location because of the new water campus that is being built?

Delgado knew about it before the general public did. That could be a reason. Or why they have Huey's and Drafthouse so close to IBM...

Are there that many people in Baton Rouge who would go to this type of nightclub?
