I used to get my haircut in there by a dude named Randy. I wish I could remember the name of that place.

There was a big sporting goods store there at one time but I forgot the name of it too. I got my first baseball glove there.

I think Video Co-Op may have originally been there before they moved to their stand alone location.

Gentrifiying that area would do wonders for the city. It's surrounded by good neighborhoods in every direction.

(Insert Democrat run city) is a slump.

It's that easy. Even odds that would happen in Chicago, Memphis, Jackson, Houston, New Orleans, I can keep going.

Bowel Street?

Well, that area was originally the BR Landfill and the school (once Valley Park middle school) gets shut down every couple of years when toxic stuff starts seeping up through the floors... then they clean it up and reopen it as something else. So gentrification will not happen...

Headmasters was run by the Bova family. Randy, his dad and his brother cut hair.

Howard Bros was at the other end of the shopping center. There was also an A&P grocery store and and Eckerd’s drug store in the shopping center.

BR won't ever attract enough gays to gentrify a lot of the city. Gays are more drawn to more gay friendly big Southern cities like NOLA, Atlanta, Nashville, Charlotte

To my knowledge, only Spanish Town has been gentrified and that's because it started with the gays and than mostly White affluent liberals moved in right after.

I say this all the time, BR was visibly and culturally better 20 years ago. People say the same about cities like Austin but you can still actually see the amazing growth in every economically to infrastructure to home values. BR has declined more than it has grown. More old neighborhood was vibrant and had kids playing everywhere in the 90s and early 00s, today it looks a shell of itself. I know natives hate to hear this but that's just not a lot to get excited about or brag about outside maybe the colleges

No. Being the outlier, crime IS getting worse in BR

Almost everywhere else, crime is falling bigly.

I thought the violent crime rate was down in 2025. (Still high compared to other areas but down compared to the last few years).

Forced the library to eat a shite sammich then stole $50 million from them, now has his eyes on BREC. FTG

I voted for all of this.

As a taxpayer, it’s absurd that the public library system has a wealth of public funds when we have desperate funding needs elsewhere.

As for BREC, the change in the composition of the board will be the most positive change for the Baton Rouge area in years. BREC is an unmitigated disaster and a blackhole of taxpayer money.

I can’t believe anyone who lives in the EBR would oppose these two changes (other than library and BREC workers lining their pockets).

Needs a real life purge

Expensive and impractical.

We need mandatory IQ testing and one time sterilization payments. Payments are a sliding scale based upon age and IQ. The dumbest 18 year olds get the biggest payout for irreversible sterilization. The pay decreases as age and/or IQ decreases.

It’s time to cull the herd. We have too many hard keepers with bad temperament.

Why limit the age to 18, according to the Leftist any age is acceptable to mutilate their genitalia?

I don’t think I even want to intervene in the trans’ing of idiots since it’s probably going to render them infertile. 2 for 1: makes the idiots easy to spot and renders them unable to reproduce.

Guilty as charged.

Was having some really good beer at Mid City Beer Garden and apparently some dude got gunned down a block away. Not even dark like 5:30 5:45.

Its really is not unlike NO these days, you can be one street over from getting shot.

Why limit the age to 18,

Early sterilization has its own set of health risks. 18 is the age of consent for the military. As people get older the payout decreases. There could be an incentive program for mothers under the age of 18 to get parental permission.

Every married couple in Louisiana with one child will pay an average of $250,000.00 MORE in taxes than an unwed mother with one child. This is the amount from birth to 18 that responsible parents pay to subsidize the problem.

I've lived in Baton Rouge my entire life (nearly 64 years) and can say, without a doubt, Baton Rouge is NOT a better place than it was just a few years ago.

And think back to what Baton Rouge was like in 1990: a veritable paradise in comparison to today.

I really do shake my head when I think about it.

Just what the HELL HAPPENED?!?
