Well, for one, when the garbage busted while crime is in progress, owner of said property should be able to handle as he or she sees fit. It’s time we stop mollycoddling criminals (thanks, Obama and Biden) and remove them from society.

I've lived in Baton Rouge my entire life (nearly 64 years) and can say, without a doubt, Baton Rouge is NOT a better place than it was just a few years ago.

BR is actually one of the outliers getting worse in terms of crime. It's also not seeing the same response following the post-Covid spike that almost everywhere else is.

I think Birmingham is in the same boat.

If only we could put up walls and restrict access. That would be great. Yeah.
wouldn’t that be keeping the residents of king Bradford and those terrible apartments in old Jefferson in?

are you saying that crime in BR is not getting worse?

It’s worse in my own area of Sherwood/Coursey than it was 5 years ago however, for the most part it’s kept out of the news bc my neighborhood likes it that way

Look I get it BTR has its problems but where I office in the energy corridor of Houston, we always tell folks visiting from out of town do not leave your valuables, especially any electronics in your vehicle including the trunk or you will get your window smashed or trunk pried open. And the area I'm talking about is a narrow strip between Barker Cypress and Kirkwood along I10. Not considered a bad area. Crime is everywhere.

No. Being the outlier, crime IS getting worse in BR

Almost everywhere else, crime is falling bigly.

I've spent some time in British Columbia and it's absolutely beautiful. My wife (no pics) is more of a beach gal. I'm more of a lake/hills guy. Maybe we'll figure out a way to do both. Don't know if we want to move permanently too far north, but I have thought about Montana. Just don't think I'd like the Winter.

So is it a narrow strip or is it everywhere? In Katy I can leave packages on my doorstep all weekend, and they’re still there.

No different from Houston, or most other metropolitan areas. It's the culcha. Go to corporate meetings in nicer locales, such as Palm Springs, etc.

Probably dudes from some Woodlands bubble whose mommies and daddies never taught them not to leave their iPads, laptops, etc. out for the taking…always shocked when they go out into the real world and real world stuff happens to them.

ETA the first time I ever got robbed in my life was in TX. Second time was in TN. Hasn’t happened yet in LA despite over 25 cumulative years spent here…knock on wood.
