Late getting in this thread, but prayers for BR - I imagine tension is high.
Scariest part is that every time something like this happens, the likelihood of it happening again increases. Is this the new normal?

Pete Williams of NBC news reports that authorities are investigating the possibility that Long coordinated with other people from Missouri to lure the officers to the location of the Baton Rouge shootings. Long rented a car in Kansas City, stopped in Dallas a few days after the police shootings there and then went on to Baton Rouge, according to CNN. They also report long was a member of several conspiracy groups devoted to government surveillance and monitoring.
Latest report from Kansas City - updated at 6:57 a.m.

Sorry for asking for a rehash but what ever came of the situation at his house in Kansas City?
Posted on 7/18/16 at 7:17 am to LSU-MNCBABY
FBI raided an apartment in KC.
This is separate from house where "standoff" occurred. Family member was said to be inside of house.
Updates from Kansas City have been very limited.

Makes me feel like there will be multiple arrests there.

Thanks, it has been very difficult to find confrimed information since late afternoon yesterday.
I've heard all kind of rumors from responders today, I'm sure they will keep coming until we get something more definitive from the authorities

Feds are more involved. Won't be as many leaks.

A Star reporter on Sunday afternoon knocked on the door of a Kansas City home listed as Long’s last known address, at 1166 E. 77th Terrace. The reporter was met at the door by a man with a gun who declined to comment.
No one was at the home where his ex-wife last lived. Neighbors said the couple had moved out some time ago but occasionally visited the three-story brown-colored house.
Court records also show that a petition was filed against Long on March 17 for delinquent city earnings tax. The summons was served to his mother on June 1, documents show, and the case was dismissed on June 7.

After 1 1/2 years at Clark, Long’s website said, he had a “spiritual revelation,” dropped out of college, sold his two cars, gave away his belongings and went to Africa on a spiritual journey.

In a national TV interview Monday morning on FOX News, the sheriff said one deputy is on life support in the hospital, suffering from gun shot wounds to the head and torso. A second depuy was shot in the arm. Both deputies underwent surgery Sunday, the sheriff said.
The sheriff did not release the names of the deputies hospitalized on TV, but the department identified the deputies Sunday as Bruce Simmons, 51, and Nicholas Tullier, 41.
Simmons has been with the department for 23 years. Tullier has been with the department for 18 years.

You will not see any protest from the white people for the killing of these cops. This goes to show the stupidity and weakness of the BLM group that can't seem to get it together.

This may have been discusssd already. I apologize in advance. Both of the killers were ex-military. I wonder if this is tied to some form of group and I don't mean just BLM. I just find it hard to grasp that two killers both had US army/marine training.

BLM should now be labeled as a hate group by the media listed as one anytime they are covered from now going forward.

I didn't recognize any of the names of the fallen officers, but when I saw his face on the news at the gym this morning, I immediately recognized Deputy Garafola. I helped him with the purchase his son's first shotgun when I worked at Academy on Siegen during college. He came in several times with his family, shopping around for the best starter for his son. Just shooting the bull with this man I didn't know for a few minutes here and there over several days, I learned a lot about the firearms that I was surrounded by and how to better answer questions from customers who might not know as much as he did.
The point I'm trying to make is that even when they aren't in uniform, they are still willing to help people they don't know, even if it's as simple as explaining a feature on a shotgun I didn't really understand at the time...it's in their nature to help. It truly breaks my heart that this is what's happening to good, honest, truly caring LEOs in this country.
Rest easy, Officers Matthew Gerald, Montrell Jackson, and Deputy Brad Garafola. EoW: 07-17-2016

Police confirm that motive was to target cops.
Not that we didn't already know that, but they finally came out and contradicted CNN's attempt to downplay it.
