The ramp was also widened to add more outside shoulder room.

"Re-banking" would be a geometric nightmare that would require modifications to the superelevations and grade tie-ins far beyond the ramp location.

See, those are the kind of issues that people who aren't involved with sort of work don't understand when they say things like "just build a loop" or "widen the ramp". It is the same as if I would walk into a Dr's office who just discovered a tumor on my brother's brain and told him, just cut it off.

Just like your complaints about the alleged reallocation of the money from use in the BR area to the widening of I-10 on the other side of the basin. That money was from a grant which had stipulations that construction using that money had to begin within a certain time frame. The area where the widening is taking place did not require additional right of way acquisitions which meant that with plans ready, the project could begin. Widening of I-10 in BR will require obtaining significant right of way and I assume a lot of it will be difficult to acquire due to resistance. That means a longer time frame to do so. The BR I-10 widening just did not meet the constraints that were imposed on the grant money.
