6% is highest any Chemical/refinery company (and I've interviewed with a ton) matches that I've seen.

I know of one that does 1.5x up to 9%. If you put in 6% they put in 9%.

Maybe he worded it wrong and some companies do it differently, but I know of a few that don’t really do a match and just do a 5% or 10% company contribution into a 401K

Well this is false. I get 10% now. Actually I get better than 10% match. I get 6% free from the company and then an additional 4% if I contribute 6%. Occidental in Taft is similar as is Cornerstone.
As far as BASF goes and the other questions I asked, I'll find out during my interview Thursday.

Yes, there are several plants that do this. PBF, BASF, Venture Global, Koch Methanol, just to name a few. Obviously they have other experience requirements to be considered.

not true....if you are salary westlake will match 4% then give you a annual retirement bonus of 8% into the account. so essentially 12% on 4%.
