If I ever happen to make it to one of these televised auctions and I will be buying a car, I’d do my best to not look like a giant cheese dick like some of these guys.

One of my clients is going this weekend. I really hope he doesn’t buy something. Haha

Gotta admit, that was an incredible sign. Rare, great art and beautiful condition. You're buying art not a sign.

Haven’t seen the guy with the visor/spiked hair combo yet either.
Strong possibility of me being that guy. Strong.

The chevelles that went tonight went way more than I would suspect or at least way more than I would pay

Malibu on the block right now.
Pretty much the same as Chevelle. Only nicer.

I’ve never bid. Auctions like BJ or Mecum don’t have deals. Most have a reserve and enough marketing to get the word out. Also notice every buyer is drinking which gets the emotional bids going. The flip side is if you have money and want something in particular, these shows likely have what you are looking for (especially American cars). Bring a Trailer is a option (if you are not looking for a muscle car) to get a car that’s vetted by a forum.
In order to get a deal (i.e. something that you could flip quickly), a private sale with an owner that doesn’t know as much as they should is the only way.

I’d have a third-party bid for me.

My Father has purchased and sold at BJ and has been on TV several times... So far he has yet to embarrass the family name.
