I think about it all the time, and if I hit the lottery, I think the first extravagant car purchase I made would be a 1958 corvette convertible. I would love to drive around town on weekends with the top down. I just think the design of them were perfect.
My thoughts exactly
Panama yellow 1958 vette is the goat.

Family friend has a 58, even let me drive it to my last day of high school. This was before his frame off resto though.
Also drove it in a parade or two while in high school as well.

Out of the cars you have listed I would want the Cobra Killer over any of the rest (L88 Vette).
Dated a girl in high school that her dad restored Corvettes. When we were dating he owned a '67 Stingray that was one of only 17 like it in the world (hunter green metallic paint and hunter green interior). In 1991 it still and the original spark plugs and wires in it and ran like a scolded dog. He would not even show me the car without me taking off everything I had on that had metal on it. He also owned '54,'57, and '73 convertibles.
He sold all of them in order to buy an L88. The original documentation on the L88's from GM stated the horsepower rating of the cars as 430. The cars actually came from the factory pushing between 500-600 HP and would easily push over 600HP with headers. They came with no A/C,heat, or radio. They were pretty much racecars sold to the public. The most fun I have ever had in a car and the most scared shitless I have ever been in a car was riding in that car with him. Got goosebumps typing this out just remembering the feeling.

Some guy in Kentucky had those Firebirds right? Richard Rawlings from gas monkey bought them and did a full restore?

My dad had one when I was in HS......awesome car and ahead of its time. But, when that turbo got warm, performance took a hit.

It's a supercharged 5.4. Same motor in the 2004 - 2009 F150...well same block at least (I think).

exact same engine in the lightning truck. just programmed a little different

It's a 5.4. It's basically the 2000 Cobra R engine plus the blower.
The values are interesting. They were sold above list in the beginning, dropped down, and now are heading up. There were 4,000 of them so it's not overly rare. I remember seeing several of them modified so the actual number of original cars may be fairly low.
BMW Z8 values have been similar. Not an old car, the values dropped but now are north of $200k.
