With e-books in the palm of just about everyone's hand, it's a tall order for book stores to bring in customers.

Barnes and Noble's solution is to sell alcohol.

The book retailer is piloting serving beer and wine in four new stores, and it will be adding real food to some stores too.

The company hired an executive chef and will have full breakfast, lunch and dinner menus, along with waiters.

The new stories will feature a larger cafe area to accommodate the new amenities. The first store opens in Eastchester, NY, in the fall.

Didn't search, new to me

Nothing goes with reading like a bunch of drunk liberals trying to talk to you about their ideals.

Sounds like a total waste of money and resources to develop full menus and staff restaurants. That road leads to bankruptcy.

I'm with you. Love me some Barnes and Noble. I foresee cannabis smoking areas down the road in a few years as well. Get you a glass of wine, some bud and a book and you are in hog heaven.

That is a fantastic idea. Why not open up a place with a bar where book needs can bullshite. The Alamo Drafthouse has been doing this to great affect with movies. Why shouldn't books work this way? Really there should be more bars directly appealing to nerds. If there are gay bars, why not nerd bars?
