A mid-tier Silverado or F150 is already unaffordable for 85-90% of the population anyway. I guess it doesn't matter if they go up to 100k at this point

That's what I was thinking. frick them. Plus, surplus is so sky high right now, it won't matter anyway.

What vehicles come through there? I'm assuming they mean European and asian vehicles that are made overseas? Things like the Tundra are already made in America or Mexico right? Obviously if certain vehicles go up that will affect other vehicle pricing too, potentially. I just don't see how an east coast port will have a major effect on the overall market.

VW not affected. The Dundalk freight can be sent to Brunswick, Philadelphia, Newark or Jax.

I know there's a HUGE Volkswagen and BMW receiving yard right by the bridge.

GM and Ford have vehicles come through there.

In the article, a GM statement said it will have minimal impact, while the Ford CFO said it will lengthen their supply chain a bit. I guess we'll see.

Cynical me almost hopes the used car market increases share and the new vehicle market takes a poop. Let them sit on their 6 function tailgate trucks until they stop engineering - basically - 85K debt sleds w steel and electronic tech no one needs but have to pay for.

Guess I'm not seeing why pickup prices will go up since pretty much exactly zero are imported through Baltimore.

European cars will certainly see an impact.

Work trucks are far cheaper than $85k.

I see loads of people saying they just want a basic truck yet they don't buy them.

The 6 function tailgate isn't standard you know.

VW (for Porsche at least) drops their cars off at Sparrow Point, which is south of the bridge.

Here's a pic from Rennlist:

Depending on how extensive the cleanup/recovery is, it seems like ships should still be able to dock there.
