It's an abomination of all things Land Rover. The price isn't so bad if it were a real, purpose built vehicle. It's now just another SUV.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the stats/metrics (put out by Land Rover) put the new defender as one of if not the best mass produced offroad vehicle available?

Base price is around 50k

do you really think somebody´s going to pay that for a tin and plastic can, with a twelve second 0 to 60 acceleration?

They´re going to be looking at the 110 (medium) or luxury range.

The original with a modern, non-Land Rover, drivetrain would be cool. Zero interest in the new one.

The boxy SUV look is still a classic and would do well. Jeep Cherokee (mid-size), Chevy Blazer (full-size), etc. Hell, people are still spending $100k+ on Mercedes G-Wagons.

Any pros/cons to the brand?

They´ve gone to shite. The Discovery looks like Koreans were told to make a nice Chevrolet Equinox.

this one? Yeah, I can see that.

I was answering someone who queried about the Discovery.

The FJ was a pretty decent ride.

On paper, there are several base stats comparing stock versions where New Defender bests the old. The reality is the old one was a beast that would chug on for years. They were hardly perfect, but most Land Rovers ever made are still running today, a remarkable statistic. The Defender was not a consumer vehicle. It was uncomfortable by modern standards and crude. Most owners loved them, though, even while cursing their quirks.

Look at the front bumper cap on the new one and then google Land Rover camel trophy. You tell me which looks the part.

Pretty sure they always did. The weird door is my only knock. Supposedly has the huge blindspot like the new defender

Exactly. I wasn´t happy when given it. I ended up loving it, however.

Went and test drove a used 2017 Range Rover super charged a month ago. Not even five minutes out started running rough and check engine light came on. Just drove it back and politely said no thanks.

I had an FJ.. changing lanes was a bitch because of the blind spot. Only thing I didn't like about it.. just got rid of it around 4 years ago and still wish I had it.
