Reduced rates for a guy who has billions of streams on a major music streaming service (Spotify)?
I think some of y’all are woefully underestimating how popular the guy is among the demographic the NFL usually targets for the halftime show.

This is a fairly recent phenomenon since Jay Z took over.
And yes, they will likely be able to sell some serious ads to spanish language / adjacent products

I'm 39, loved the Kendrick Lamar halftime show and have known about Bad Bunny and his popularity and some of his songs for some time. When they announced him as the halftime show I almost became a Boomer 
I don't like the choice, but I get why they did it. I think he would have been better as a "guest" performer, maybe a song or two in Spanish, but not the headliner. I think it's a choice that creates zero excitement for the majority of football fans, which if we're being honest, is who they should truly target, the fans.
But on the other hand, the majority of football fans like Bro Country music, which is the worst genre in the history of music, so this is at least better than that. I would rather listen to music that I literally don't understand than listen to bro country.

Love is too much. I liked it. But I like Kendrick Lamar. It wasn't a big spectacle and I'm fine with that.

Hey, if we want to argue that they should target folks already watching then I’m cool with that. But they’ve always targeted the “wives and kids” groups with the halftime show. And with the push to establish a stronger Latino/Hispanic demographic, this makes a lot of sense.
I think the larger issue is the folks selling out arenas for concerts have changed. Not many rock bands can put on that kind of show that has mass appeal. That leans more Taylor Swift or Bad Bunny (he sold out here in Louisville at Yum). And they’re not marching Ghost out there for a halftime show.
I guess we could default back to pre-90s with university marching bands.

I just watched some of his "music" on youtube.
Its clear the NFL marketing team isn't interesting in giving the fans what they want.
Its either political influence or trying to gain market share from hispanics.
Because it sure isn't trying to put the best show on as possible for the majority of fans.
